Books to read - Namibia/Zambia
Same post as "Books to Read" - just wanted to get the countries in the title. Does anyone have suggestions for books to read before we go - adult through young teen. Also, recommendations for a wildlife identification book would be appreciated.

Dear A Dee
Try the following:
Zambia
A History of Zambia Andrew Roberts (1976) a detailed and complete history of Zambia
Tales of Zambia Dick Hobson (1996)
Travels and Researches in Southern Africa David Livingstone (1857) A classic
The Africa House Christine Lamb (the history of Shiwa Ngandu)
(the last a particular favourite)
Namibia
The Bushmen - A Changing Way of Life - Anthony Bannister
Skeleton Coast Amy Schoeman (excellent photos and text)
Struik (publishers) do a good simple mammals books and people will argue over whether Newman's or Sasol is the better bird guide
Yours, Richard

Dear A Dee
Just thought of some more. Not specifically related to the countries you are visiting, but fun for children, albeit perhaps a little younger than teenagers:
Alexander McCall Smith - Akimbo series (Akimbo and the Crocodile Man, and the Elephants, and the Lions)
Jill Tomlinsons books - The Aardvark Who Wasn't Sure, The Gorilla Who Wanted to Grow Up
Enjoy them, Richard
