Booking accomodation in Kruger
I tried booking accomodation in Kruger through the online form on sanparks.org, but after 6 days I still havenīt got a response... Is this normal or what?
Is there another way to book accomodation in the rest camps in Kruger? Can I use a travel agent?
Thanks in advance
Jes

I would call or fax them. Perhaps it would help if I share my recent experience with making Kruger bookings. I emailed my original request and received a reply within 48 hours, saying that I needed to fill out the attached form: "Application for the Use of Our Facilities." I filled this out and faxed it to Pretoria and within 48 hours received an email confirmation in the form of a new attachment: "Provisional Reservation." The contents of this form included a listing of my confirmed reservations and their costs, the reservations numbers, and my client number. It said I had about six weeks to pay for the reservation. I paid much sooner: after about two weeks I faxed them my credit card authorization form. Just hours later, I got confirmation by email saying they had received my payment. I replied to the email by asking for some game drives and walks. This, too, was done for me very quickly. I booked almost five months in advance for my visit in May and by then many of the bungalows with views were already booked, such as those at Oliphants and Satara. Many of the bungalows without views but with kitchen facitilies were also already booked. All I could get were bungalows with communal kitchen facilities, and only for one night at each camp! I couldn't book for two nights in a row! If you look at the SAN Parks forum you'll see that some people will book the best bungalows with views and kitchens almost a year in advance (as soon as SAN Parks begins taking reservations). Reading this helped me put things in perspective. (I had much better luck with Skukuza.) If you call South Africa with a calling card the charges shouldn't be too dear--I bought a card at COSTCO that gave me a rate of about 22 cents a minute (depends on the time you call).

I emailed them my requests, got 1 reply back saying the camp was full, nothing on the other camps so waited a week, called them, booked, got confirmation # and waited for email receipt but never came, so called them again and got it in 10 minutes. as tom says, call them, it works. try one of the satellite #'s and you shouldn't be on hold for long, about 30 seconds for me.
