Best places to eat in Egypt?

As I said, authentic Egyptian cuisine includes fast food.

A lot of those are fast food, if by fast food you mean food not served in a sit down restaurant with table service. E.g. "Ful mudammas and Ta’meya are the original Egyptian fast food", plus kebabs, schwarma, etc.
Come to that, even if you eat in a McDonalds, it will not be like a McDonalds in the US.
In any case, if you put "restaurant: Mohandseen cairo" into google maps, and scroll south a bit, you get several places that look "authentic".

I was in Egypt on a tour in February/March and enjoyed "khosari," an Egyptian dish. It has a lot of carbs, but it is delicious. I think it is not difficult to find it.
If you have a chance, try Nubian food. That was also delicious.
I did end up at a McDonald's near the Cairo Airport because it was Friday and most places were closed. I don't go to MCD often when I am at home, but the food there in Cairo looked like it would in the US.
I have photos!
