Balloon Ride in Namibia

Have you ever taken the early morning balloon ride over the dunes in Namibia? The cost is $250USD and I'm hesitant about spending this amount of money if the experience is not spectacular.

    We didnt take a balloon ride over but we left from Sesriem (Sossusvlei) for Damaraland in a scenic charter cessna.

    The pilot made sure to include some time over the dunes of Sossusvlie before we struck out for our destination and it is spectacular from the air.

    We found that it really bought home to us what we had seen on the ground when we saw it again from the air.

    After that, we continued over the dessert right to the ocean, and then up the coast, which was stunning.

    If you have an air transfer to the next destination, you could find out how much it would be to add a little tour time over the dunes to it, if not then consider the balloon.

    We personally felt the balloon ride was too much, but then again, it is a very spectacular view from the air.

    We also asked him to take us over the fairy circles so we could get some pictures... fascinating occurence.

    Where are you staying, when are you going, what other areas will you see?

    I sooo long to go back, but we are waiting till 2004, our 10th wedding anniversary, since it is such an expensive trip, we need time to save up again!
