Bahariyah oasis
Hello... I have my Egypt trip in March pretty well planned out.. But I have a few extra days and was thinking of taking a few days and take a camel camping trip in the white deser area.. I was wondering if any of you have tried it, or have some input on it???
Thanks
John

John,
I went a bit further than Bahariya (went to Farafra - a few hours further) and spent a few nights in the desert with http://www.badawiya.com/index.html - I highly recommend them. Camping in the desert was the highlight of my time in Egypt. White desert is amazing.

Hi John
I would agree with Maxwell. I went to Baharia did a couple of days there and went to the White Desert and I must say it was fabulous. It was the most surreal experience for me, there was only me, my guide, and driver and no-one else, just us. No hustle and bustle tourists or anything like that. And the place itself was just out of this world.
I would definately recommend people see the White Desert.
I recommend a company called Egypt Quality Tours for private tours to Bahariya and white desert etc but who ever you wish to use, you will not be disappointed with the sights you are about to see.
Have a great time

I would recommend the White Desert for sure, but NOT by camel. It is too good to see from the back of a camel. You'll enjoy it more from the comfort of a Jeep or 4x4 by any other name.
There is just too much to see, and you'd miss a great deal if you tried to do in on a camel. Those animals don't move that fast.

Ok.. I'm home.. Egypt was fantastic, and Bahariyah Oasis is beautiful.. the camping trip was very nice.. but 2 days on a camel is WAAY too much!.. 1/2 hour would have been fine...
and please DO NOT BOOK WITH MINAMAR HOTELS for your tour.. they did not come thru on what they told us.. we didnt see all they promised, and they did not get us back to Cairo.. they dumpped us in a crowded van with two groups from other companies and then dumped us into another van on the oputskirts of Cairo.. with a non english speaking driver who had no clue where we were going.. we ended up getting dropped off on a crowded street (Sudan Street)and having to call people from where we were staying to get them to come out and find us... Our time with Wedjat Tours was great however, and is what made us want to return to Egypt again!

LOL!!!! I could even do without 1/2 an hour!!! Four years and every member of my family managed to avoid getting on a camel!!!
Glad you enjoyed Egypt and glad you survived your camel ride.
