Is it possible to cover Aswan, Edfu, and Abu Simbel in 8 days and 7 nights? Is so, what is the best way? Train, bus, air?
Thanks in advance.

Yes you can cover those 3 cities and more in 8 days.
1/. Fly from Cairo or Aswan to Abu Simbel and return the same day to Aswan.
2/. Tour Aswan as well as Philae Tembple in 2 days and 1 night.
3/. Cruise via a Nile cruiser to Luxor stopping at Edfu and a few other places along the way - 4 days and 3 nights.
Total = 7 days and 6 nights.
Enjoy!

That's more than enough time to do a leisurely tour. I agree with Hanuman that that is the best way. If you don't want to do a cruise, you can go by microbus with a private guide. I'm used Tut Egypt Tours out of Luxor and they did a wonderful job of taking care of us and we were provided with a licensed Egyptologist as a guide. It was also very affordable, which I liked. www.tutegypt.com
Thank you for your advice.
