Hi,

Have been doing a lot of research on anti-mosquito preparations - see the thread DEET below.

Now want to buy some, but all of the recommendations given in that thread are American. Can anyone tell me if there is a 33% Ultrathon equivalent for instance in Britain? What is it called?

Or any good 30-35% DEET lotion or stick form that is recommended? I would appreciate it if there is a form that also retards skin absorption.

I'm British but I don't remember brands and stuff - I just go into Boots or sometimes into a travel-specific store and look at what they have. Since I've always gone for the 50% stuff I can't even tell you about 35% but I DO know there is definitely stuff available that's got less than 50% as I've often seen it and disregarded it.

I usually buy the 50% stuff from Blacks, although when we went to Kenya we bought the 100% instead - never saw a mozzie at all that time!

Even where we've visited somewhere and the local guides/ management have said there are no mossies around and haven't been for some weeks - one of the darn critters surfaces and makes a bee-line (or should I say mossie-line) straight for me! I'm a mosquito magnet, sadly.

If you want some 33% Ultrathon, drop me an email -- I overbought on my last trip to the US and have a couple of extra tubes. I also have 100% Ultrathon if anyone is interested. I live in Oxford and could post it to you.
