I can't believe we're just a few weeks away from our wedding and then honeymoon to Africa! We will be going to Mauritius, safari at Singita Boulders, followed by Cape Town and the wine country. We will be leaving on September 17th and returning on October 3rd.
Since this is our first safari, we're clueless as to what's considered proper "safari attire" and "safari evening attire". We know that it will be spring in South Africa, but we're also not sure what kind of weather to expect in Sabi Sands and Capetown/wine country.
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Almost time for safari honeymoon- now what should we pack?!

Cape Town in spring is very changeable so I suggest you dress in layers. We are a casual city so think weekend wear. Jeans, pants with pockets, layered tops. Good walking shoes are essential.
In the evening dressing up would also be layers. We don't really have central heating over here, so if its cold you need to dress warmly inside as well as outdoors.
You can expect basically sunny weather - temps would be 21-26 degrees around then with windy days - especially Camps Bay area. Possible rain though not too much.
Enjoy your trip
Hello,
In the Sabi Sands (Singita) expect warm days and relatively warm nights - you may need a light jumper or fleece depending on your personal temperature preference. In terms of clothing, you don't need any special safari clothing (and those who show up in safari suits invariably look very silly and out of place). Go with comfortable clothing in natural colours (muted greens, browns, and creams -- avoid blues, black, and bright colours) and fabrics (linen, cotton, silk). Bring some long-sleeved shirts and trousers for evenings and to fend off the mozzies. If you prefer to dress up a bit for dinner, think casually elegant.
I found that my safari wardrobe worked fine for my time in Cape Town and the Winelands, with th addition of a heavier jacket.
Take a comfortable pair of walking shoes and if you like a pair of sandals -- you don't need technical hiking boots unless you plan to hike. Ecco, Mephisto, Clarks, and Rockport make some great walking shoes.
Cheers,
Julian
Casual and comfortable in colors as mentioned above. Special safari clothing are not required, but for shoes that have been broken in... walkers or mocassins are fine. Have a jackets or heavy sweater for mornings and evenings throughout. At Singita we found that many of the women (and it's not that many as the camp only have 18/people - so half, would change to nice casual - slacks with sweather and blazer, shawl; some of the younger women wore slip dresses (and the heck with the mossies). Not much different than casual attire at home for the trip.
As Julian mentions, those who look as if they walked off the pages of Bazzaar or Vogue with typical safari attire, actually looked out of place. You can put together your own outfits from what you already own or can find at The Gap or Banana Republic, etc.
You'll have a great time. Best wishes on your nuptuals.
