Airport hotel in Nairobi

Ok - trip planning is coming along - will post when I know for sure-
Question: we are flying in from Mombasa and will be sleeping overnight in Nairobi. Rather than going back into downtown Nairobi is there an airport hotel near the International Airport? Our flight leaves at 9:25 AM the next day, and I don't' want to sit in traffic. Any suggestions?
Thanks ldtc2

The Panari Hotel is 10/min down the road from the airport. The closest decent hotel in the area. Perfect for early wake-up and check-in/security at JKIA.

That hotel got pretty bad reviews. Do you know how far it is ( travel time) from the international airport if I just go back to the Sarova Panafric Hotel and then back to the airport again? THanks

It can take 1/2-hour or 1-1/2 hrs. from downtown to JKIA. For a 9:25am departure you have to be at airport for check-in/security at about 7am, meaning at least a 6am departure from hotel.

The Panari has its faults, like a very cold marble reception area with few places to sit. However, the rooms were ample, clean linens, good size bathroom with tub/shower, hairdryer, plenty of towels, hot water. Great for an early morning flight out of the airport only 10/min aways.

You have to decide.

That early in the morning the traffic shouldn't be too bad. My trips to NBO between 5:30am-7:00am have taken half an hour from the central business district.

I had no issues either when I stayed at the Panari a couple of years ago.

The rooms were clean and the staff was courteous. They even went out of their way to locate and send me my monopod when I was in Rwanda. (I left it behind in the room).

Ok will check it out further ( airport hotel) and/or leave it up to the tour operator to decide.
