1.5 hours layover Dubai-enough time?

I am traveling from Nashville to Singapore in September, and I want to at least stop over in my number one destination in the world-Dubai (don't ask why I'm not making that the main destination-that's another story...)! The flight I am looking at has a long enough layover on the way back to enjoy Dubai for a few (19) hours, but my question is regarding the layover on the flight over. It only has a 1.5 layover. Is that sufficient time to make if from one flight to the next? Both the flight from Boston to Dubai and from Dubai to Singapore are both on Emirates, so that should be a positive. I generally want to have at least a 2 hour layover in case there are any delays/complications. Any advice/suggestions?

I have checked out my flights via Flightstats.com. Enter the airline and flight number, up pops the current flight. Click on On-Time Performance Rating, and you will see how often a flight is on time.

1.5 hours would not be comfortable for me. Your airline may or may not be timely.

Normally I wouldn't be comfortable with that, but with that said,I just booked flights today with a 1h20 connection time in Dubai. The minimum legal connection was 1 hour. Both flights are on Emirates and arriving/leaving from the same terminal. There is another flight a couple of hours later so even if I miss the connection, they will hopefully be able to put me on the next flight. It is a risk, but I didn't want to wait around the airport after a red-eye flight if I do not have to. I'll hope for the best.

Thanks guys. Amy, I checked the flightstats and it said it was on-time 82% of the time (even though the sample size was only 57 flights). And I agree with both of you-I never feel comfortable with layovers less than at least 2 hours. However, both flights are with Emirates, and there are two flights after mine. So ugh-I'm still undecided. My other choice is to fly through Istanbul and have a 9 hour layover (both ways) where I can get out and explore that great city. But, Dubai is the number 1 place I want to visit, and the layover on the way back is 19 hours.

1.5 hours would be comfortable for me. If it was not enough time, Emirates would not sell it as a connection. If the inbound flight is late and you miss your connection from DXB to SIN, Emirates will put you on their next available flight. Looking at how many direct flights there are between DXB and SIN on EK, there are about 4/5 a day. I would take the connection of 1.5 hours any day over 9 hours in IST.

You will be fine with a one and a half hour layover. The excellent staff of Emirates will help you to make sure you are in time for your connecting flight.

We flew Emirates via Dubai twice last summer and 1.5 hours to connect should be fine. Connections there are very efficient.
