1 Week in North Africa/Middle East- flying from US- where to go?

Hi all,

I've got 5 vacation days left for this year, and I'm wanting to use them for travel (of course!)

I'm already going to Cambodia/Vietnam in late October for 2 weeks, but can not add on time to this trip (work rules, no 2 weeks+ off at one time). I could either go in August,September or November.

Money isn't much of an issue (but lets not go crazy), but if you had from Saturday-following Sunday to fly to Africa (north) or the Middle East- where would you go? What do you think would be reasonable to see in such a short time frame?

Any tips would be helpful!

You've asked exactly the same question on the Asia Forum!

Things are a bit unsettled in the ME right now... I think I'd head for Morocco, although five days is far too short. How many nights is that? I prefer Fez to Marakesh, but with limited time I'd probably opt for a combo of Marrakesh and Essaouira.

With the short time, I'd pick Morocco. Wile you don't mention time of year and/or from where flying from, if the East Coast US, it's the easiest flight both ways and you then have more time on the ground. When it comes to time of year (month) some are quite cold, so verify that when selecting areas to visit.

Good luck!

That is quite different. In that case I would concentrate on the north. I still don't think you have time for the desert or the gorges, unless you headed straight there. You could fly into Casa and take the train to Rabat. Then Meknes, Fez and Chefchaouen and fly home from Tangier. Maybe a side trip to the atlas mountains.

Yes, LL, I don't know where I'd like to go, so I'm asking for suggestions, which is what this forum is for.

You seem to have a vendetta against me... so sad for you, needing to attack others hidden behind a screen!

Best of luck to you and your alter-ego, Prach.

@Foggy<<<Yes, LL, I don't know where I'd like to go, so I'm asking for suggestions, which is what this forum is for.>>>

But you don't give any clues about your interests or how you want to travel during your marathon 5 day session! And now you've got information overload because of it.

And even in the posting you made above, saying you'd got 9 days, you could have mentioned that you'd received lots of sound advice on the Asia Forum.

You've had some suggestions above, even from me. Any good?
